The American Century Core Plus Fund I Class is a mutual fund focused on U.S. fixed-income securities, designed to provide investors with a combination of total return and current income. The fund primarily invests at least 65% of its assets in investment-grade debt securities, such as government bonds, corporate notes, mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities, and U.S. Treasury securities. To enhance yield and return potential, it may allocate up to 35% of its portfolio to high-yield (below investment grade) bonds and selectively includes securities denominated in foreign currencies or issued in emerging markets. This approach positions the fund within the 'core-plus' bond category, allowing for greater diversification and moderate flexibility versus traditional core bond funds.
